UNRANKED believes everyone deserves a chance to be seen. We also believe you should understand what happens to your information. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through our current pre-launch waitlist, and identifies features planned for the future dating service.
01. WHO WE ARE
UNRANKED is an Australian dating service being developed with an initial focus on Melbourne. At present, our publicly available website operates a pre-launch waitlist; dating profiles, matching and messaging are not yet available.
The service is operated by UNRANKED PTY LTD (ACN 703 735 380, ABN 71 703 735 380).
In this policy, “UNRANKED”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of the UNRANKED service.
02. THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Current waitlist
When you register for our waitlist, we ask for:
- First name
- Email address
- Age (to confirm you are at least 18)
- Gender, including “Self-describe” and “Prefer not to say” options
- Who you are interested in meeting (optional; you can leave this unanswered)
We use gender and dating-preference responses to understand the overall mix of people interested in UNRANKED and to plan the Melbourne launch. We do not currently use these responses to target promotional emails or make automated decisions about individual waitlist members. You can choose “Prefer not to say” for gender, and you can leave dating preferences unanswered.
Planned dating service
If you later create a dating account, we expect to collect profile information such as your name, age, photos, profile description, gender and preferences. We expect the service to process messages and interactions when those features launch. We will review and update this policy before introducing them.
Technical information
Our hosting and infrastructure providers may process IP addresses, browser and device details, and website requests as needed to deliver and secure the site.
03. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
For the current waitlist, we use information to:
- Record and manage registrations and prevent duplicate entries.
- Send relevant waitlist news, launch announcements and invitations.
- Understand overall interest and demographic balance to plan the service, using aggregated information where practical.
- Answer enquiries, handle privacy requests and complaints.
- Protect the website and database, investigate misuse and comply with legal obligations.
When the dating service launches, additional uses may include managing accounts, displaying profiles, facilitating connections and messaging, and operating safety features. Those uses are not part of the current waitlist website.
04. SENSITIVE INFORMATION
Information about whom you are interested in meeting, particularly when considered alongside gender, may reveal or suggest sexual orientation or other sensitive personal information under Australian privacy law. We treat these responses with additional care.
We ask for this information to plan the launch and understand the overall waitlist, not to publish it or display it to other visitors. You can select “Prefer not to say” for gender and leave dating preferences unanswered. Providing a dating preference is voluntary.
Where consent is required to collect or use sensitive information, we will seek appropriate informed consent and will not rely on this policy alone as consent. You can contact us to request removal of your waitlist information.
Future dating profiles and messages may involve other sensitive details. We will provide relevant notices and choices before those features become available.
05. WHO CAN SEE YOUR INFORMATION?
Waitlist entries are not displayed publicly. Access to the stored information is restricted to authorised people who need it to administer the service. Public website visitors can submit a registration but are not granted permission to browse, edit or delete other registrations.
When the dating service launches, profiles are intended to be visible to logged-in UNRANKED members. Private messages are intended for their participants, subject to proportionate safety, support and legal access arrangements that we will describe more fully before launch.
06. WHEN WE SHARE INFORMATION
We do not sell your personal information.
Our current website uses Cloudflare for hosting and delivery, Supabase for waitlist storage, and Google Fonts for typography. These providers may process information as necessary to provide their services. We may engage email delivery or support providers as the waitlist develops and will update our disclosures as appropriate.
We may disclose information when required or authorised by law or to address a serious safety or security concern.
The optional share button opens your device's sharing options or lets you copy the public website link. It does not access your contacts, automatically invite anyone or share your registration details.
07. STORAGE AND SECURITY
Waitlist registrations are stored in Supabase. The database uses Row Level Security and access permissions configured to allow public registration submissions while restricting anonymous users from reading, updating or deleting waitlist records. Authorised administrative access is managed separately.
We take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. We will investigate suspected incidents and notify affected people or regulators when required by law.
08. OVERSEAS STORAGE AND SERVICE PROVIDERS
Our Supabase project's primary database is configured for Sydney, Australia. Some related processing, support, backups or operational data may nevertheless involve overseas locations.
Cloudflare operates a global delivery network, and technical website information may be processed outside Australia. Google Fonts and other providers may also process technical information overseas. We will assess overseas handling and take steps required by applicable Australian privacy law.
09. COOKIES AND ANALYTICS
Our current waitlist website does not intentionally deploy analytics cookies, and Cloudflare Web Analytics is not enabled at the time of this update. Hosting, security and other service providers may process technical information when the site is accessed, including without using cookies.
We may introduce analytics or additional technologies in future. If we do, we will review this policy and provide any notices or choices required by law. You can manage cookies using your browser settings.
10. HOW LONG WE KEEP INFORMATION
We retain waitlist details for as long as reasonably needed to manage registrations, provide launch communications and plan UNRANKED. We anticipate the waitlist may remain relevant through launch and for a period afterwards, but we will review older records and will not retain them indefinitely without a continuing purpose.
You may request removal from the waitlist or deletion of your information by emailing our privacy contact. We may need to retain limited information where required or permitted for legal, security or dispute-resolution reasons. When information is no longer needed, we will take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
11. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS
Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to:
- Provide access to personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate, outdated or incomplete information.
- Remove you from the waitlist and delete information where available and legally permitted.
- Stop sending promotional communications.
Contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
12. WAITLIST AND MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS
By joining the waitlist, you are requesting information about UNRANKED's development, launch and invitations to join. We intend to use your email address for those relevant communications, rather than for unrelated third-party advertising.
We do not currently use gender or dating-preference responses to personalise promotional emails. Marketing messages will include a way to opt out where required by law; you can also ask us to stop contacting you at any time using the privacy email below. Essential replies to your own requests may still be sent when necessary.
13. CHILDREN AND AGE REQUIREMENTS
UNRANKED is intended for adults aged 18 and over. The waitlist form requires an age of at least 18. We do not knowingly invite minors to register.
If we learn that a person under 18 has registered, we will investigate and take appropriate steps to remove their information.
14. PRIVACY COMPLAINTS
If you are concerned about our handling of your personal information, contact us using the details below. We will consider the complaint and respond within a reasonable period.
If you are dissatisfied with our response, you may be able to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
15. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We will review this policy as UNRANKED develops, especially before introducing dating profiles, messaging, location-based features or new information uses. The latest version will appear on this website with an updated revision date.
